Summary
The PDF Viewer gadget lets you view a PDF of any document that the current object appears in, and optionally request an updated version of the PDF.
The gadget shows a thumbnail of the first page of the PDF for the selected document. If no document or PDF can be located, the preview shows a 'No PDF Available' label.
Select Document list
The Select Document list shows the documents that the currently selected object appears in. If the current object has a Visual associated with (or its parent or an ancestor has a Visual associated with it) then the list will show the document associated with the visual.
If the object (or its parent/ancestor) does not have a Visual associated with it then the list contains all of the 'document' objects the current object lives beneath in the current event's document structure.
Requesting a PDF
Select Request PDF to regenerate the PDF associated with the document. You InDesign server will re-open the document, refresh the attributes, images and prices as defined in the gadget's configuration, and then perform an Update Document Structure process to regenerate the PDF.
This button is only enabled if the document's Event Properties has a valid InDesign Server and if the Request PDF button is enabled in the gadget's configuration.
Gadget Options
Show Documents In Other Events
If enabled, the Select Document list includes all documents from other Events that the current object appears beneath, not just those in the current event.
Include Complete Events
If enabled, documents from ALL events, irrespective of whether they are in progress or completed, are shown. It is only enabled once Show Documents In Other Events is enabled.
