Agility Styles gadget
Information valid for AMI version 8.0 Service Pack 12
Summary
From AMI 7.2, Agility Styles can be found in the new 'Configuration Options' of AMI, which is designed to show gadgets with an administrative function. The Admin Browser Gadget is being deprecated from Agility 7.2.
The list of Agility Styles potentially could be very long, and so a filter text box is provided. Users can type a value in here, and the list will filter out all items whose names do not match the filter. Like similar filters in AMI, it is case-insensitive and accepts the wildcard characters ? (match any one character) and * (match any number of characters).
Each item in the list can be clicked on to open an appropriate editor.
A dropdown appears to further help with filtering. You can choose:
- All Styles
- Paragraph Styles
- Character Styles
- Override Styles
Editing Styles
The following options are available for each Agility style:
- Name, ID—the internal name and ID of the style.
- Style Type—how the Agility style tag will be applied to text:
Paragraph—the style will be applied to the entire paragraph.
Character—the style will be applied to the selected text in addition to any paragraph style.
Override—the style will be applied to the selected text in addition to any other override, character or paragraph style. - Bold, Italic, Underline—whether text in this style is displayed in AMI as bold, italic or underlined. This does not affect the appearance of text when published.
These options can be set to:
Undefined—no change is made to text in this style.
On—the formatting will be applied to text.
Off—the formatting will be removed from text if it was applied by another style. - Shortcut—an optional key combination to apply the style in the editor.
- Menu Item, Use In Tables—whether the style is available via a dropdown list in editors.
- Use In Attributes—whether the style is available when editing an attribute value.
- Foreground Colour, Background Colour—optional colours to apply in AMI to text in this style. This does not affect the appearance of text when published.
- Channels—how the style is applied when published via each channel:
Prefix—the text, typically a tag, to be placed before the styled text.
Suffix—the text to be placed after the styled text.
Stylesheet—The name of the Desktop Publishing (DTP) stylesheet to be applied to text. The name must match the DTP stylesheet exactly and is case sensitive.
Style precedence
Because published data may contain text from several attributes, paragraphs may contain multiple paragraph styles, and text may be wrapped in multiple character styles. Only one paragraph style will take effect on a paragraph and only one character style can be applied to specific text.
