Attribute Reference screen
Information valid from AMI version 8.0 SP8
Summary
The Attribute Reference screen allows you to edit or replace (Paste) an attribute reference embedded in another attribute value.
Double click on an attribute reference in the Attribute Editor to open the Attribute Reference screen.
Edit
Once a reference is opened for editing, the Edit panel will display its parameters.
- Attribute—the Name of the attribute definition for the reference
- Attribute id—alternatively, the Attribute Definition ID of the attribute
- Language—the language version to be used to resolve either the name or the value of the reference
You can choose whether the reference should resolve to the name of the attribute definition (e.g. "Colour") or one of its values (e.g. "Red"):
- Resolve to Attribute Name—show either the Short or Long Name of the attribute definition in the chosen Language.
- Resolve to Attribute Instance Value—show the value of the instance in the appropriate scope
Additional options are available if you choose to have the reference resolve to an Attribute Instance Value.
You can choose to have the reference resolve to the global value from an object linked via a relation attribute:
- Across Relation—the name of the relation attribute that stores the link to the related object
- Attribute id—alternatively, the Attribute Definition ID of the relation attribute
If the attribute is empty (i.e. has a blank or null value) you can choose how the reference will resolve:
- Show the Tag—show the unresolved tag for the reference.
It will appear as something similar to this:<attrib a="5" l="-1" o="10" p="22" s="5" status="2" type="2"></attrib>
- Show text—resolve the attribute reference as if its value was the text provided in the field.
- Show nothing—hide the reference in the attribute's value.
The reference will still exist in the attribute value and will resolve with its correct value if it's given one.
If the attribute has content you can chose to add additional text before and/or after the resolved value:
- Add Prefix—optional text to go immediately before the resolved value
- Add Suffix—optional text to go immediately after the resolved value
Paste
You can replace an existing reference with one copied to the clipboard.
Select the appropriate reference then select OK.
