Glossary Terms screen

Information valid from AMI version 8.0 initial release

Summary

From AMI 7.2, Glossary Terms can be found in the new 'Configuration Options' of AMI, which is designed to show gadgets with an administrative function. The Admin Browser gadget is deprecated from Agility 7.2.

The list of Glossary Terms potentially could be very long, and so a filter text box is provided. Users can type a value in here, and the list will filter out all items whose names do not match the filter. Like similar filters in AMI, it is case-insensitive and accepts the wildcard characters ? (match any one character) and * (match any number of characters).

Select a Glossary Term to edit it.

Editing Glossary Terms

The following options are available for each Glossary Term:

  • Name, ID—the internal name and ID of the term.
  • Include in Shortcut Menu—whether the term is available in the Glossary Term menu of an editor.
  • Same for all Languages—whether the term's value is language independent.
  • Includes Formatting—whether the term should be processed for formatting tags (enabled) or treated as literal text (disabled).
  • Shortcut—an optional key combination to enter the term in an editor.

Some key combinations will be reserved by your browser and should not be used for Glossary Term shortcuts.

  • Channels—how the term is resolved when published via each channel.

To enter a value specific to a language version for a channel, select the Localise button.

Gadget Action Menu Items

 Create Glossary Term...

Opens an editor to define a new term.

 Edit Glossary Term...

An alternative to clicking on an term's name to open its editor.

 Delete Glossary Term...

References to deleted terms will not be removed from attribute values or choice lists where they have been used. They will remain as unresolvable tags.

If you believe this may happen and you still wish to delete the term, make a note of the Glossary Term's ID! With this information, you may be able to process your data either to remove unresolvable tags or to create a new Glossary Term with the previous ID.

 Access Rights...

Administrator users can set the access rights to Glossary Terms for User Groups or individual Users. These access rights apply to Glossary Terms in general, not to specific Glossary Terms.

  • Add—create new definitions
  • Edit—change existing definitions
  • Remove—remove existing definitions
  • Inherit—use the access rights from the parent group
