Designs screen
Information valid from AMI version 23.3
Summary
The Design screen lets you view and modify design details. The Design Group and Design Name selectors at the top of the screen can be used to select a design, and populate the screen's panels with that design's details.
The Design screen remembers changes made in all of its panels, and when you Apply changes all changes made in any of the panels will be saved - not just the panel that is currently open.
Panels in the Design screen
Main
This panel contains basic information about the design.
- Name—the name of the design. It does not have to be unique but we strongly recommend that it is, just for clarity.
- Design Type—how the design will be used to publish information.
See the Designs and Scripting articles for more information.- Standard—a standard design may have one or more boxes that place test, table or image information.
- Asset—an asset design allows Page Builders to manipulate an asset as they place it on a page; setting bleed, crop, etc. settings.
- Galley—a galley design allows you to paginate several objects into one text box. A galley design will place all the elements from one or several objects will place in one text box.
- Default Preview—the Agility object to use when generating an example output for the design.
- Allow in Visualizer—whether the design is available in Visualizer.
- Status—this allows you to indicate whether a design is ready for use in production:
- Set-up—a design at this status is fully editable.
Leave a new design at this stage until you’re happy with it and are ready for it to go into live production.
You can use this design for test pages or samples but you should not use designs at this status in live production. - In Production—a design at this status is ready to be used for building pages.
You can make minor edits to this design but Page Builder users will be unable to delete text boxes from the design.
If changes like this are necessary, you should move the status of the design back to Set Up. If you do this, you’ll be presented with a dialog warning you that changes you make may affect production. - Obsolete—the design is hidden in InDesign Connector and by default in AMI. The design will appear in italics and a different colour on the structure browser in the Governance tool.
It is effectively deleted in Agility, but can be restored if required by returning it to another status.
- Set-up—a design at this status is fully editable.
- Unique ID—the Agility object ID of the design.
- Path—where the design is linked in a design structure.
- Created—when the design was created and which user created it.
- Last Modified—when the design was last modified and which user modified it.
