Information valid from AMI version 8.0 initial release

Summary

The Working List gadget provides a quick way to create a collection of objects to work with. A list of object IDs or object names can be entered into the text area, allowing those objects to be added as children to a selected object in the List structure.

Basic Options

Filter by Object Type

Optionally filter your list to only include objects of a certain type.

List Elements as

Specify whether your list contains object IDs or object names.

Delimiter

Specify which character or characters divide up the elements of your list. The comma character is selected by default. Note that there is also a 'Use whitespace' checkbox, which when checked will treat any tabs or newlines (but not spaces) in the list as delimiter characters, allowing you to copy and paste cell values from applications such as third-party spreadsheets.

List of Objects

Enter your list of object IDs or object names here.

Apply Selected Results To List

The Working List Gadget allows you to manipulate lists in a few different ways. In this section of the interface you can specify what AMI should do with the objects you have entered.

List

Choose an existing object in the List structure to operate on. Selecting 'New...' will allow you to add a new object in the List structure and apply your objects to that new list object.

Copy Descendants?

If this checkbox is set, descendants of the objects are also added to the target list.

Show Results

Choose when to see a summary of what happens when you click the Apply button.

  • Always
  • Only when there are errors
  • Never

Select list after applying changes?

If checked, the selected list will become the current object when the operation completes.

Add / Remove / Replace / Intersect

Choose what action to perform on your selected list...

  • Add: Link your objects as children to the selected list object.
  • Remove: If present, remove your objects from the children of the selected list object.
  • Replace: Remove all of the existing children of the selected list object, and replace them with your objects.
  • Intersect: Any children of the selected list object which are also present in your list of IDs or names will be preserved, but all other children will be removed.
