Information valid from AMI version 8.0 initial release

Summary

The User screen provides controls for viewing and modifying user details. The User Group and User Name selectors at the top of the screen can be used to select a user, and populate the screen's panels with that user's details.

At the bottom of the screen are 'Apply' and 'Cancel' buttons, which can be used to save your changes back to Agility, or revert the screen to showing the original state of the user's data.

The User screen remembers changes made in all of its panels, and when you save your changes back to the server, all changes made in any of the panels will be saved - not just the panel that is currently open.

Panels in the User screen

The "Main" Panel

This panel contains basic information about the user.

The "Groups" Panel

This panel shows all of the existing User Groups, allowing you to add the current user to any number of groups.

The "Languages" Panel

This panel shows all of the Languages defined within Agility and allows you to select which ones the User has access to. The User's default language can also be defined here.

The "Workspaces" Panel

This panel shows all of the Workspaces defined within Agility and allows you to select which ones the User has access to. The User's default workspace can also be defined here.

The "Attributes" Panel

This panel shows a table of the attributes in the attribute set that is associated with User objects. You can both view and edit the attributes.

The "User Snapshot" Panel

The User Snapshot is a record of the state that AMI was in the last time a user accessed it. Usually this snapshot is recorded whenever the user logs out, but if changes are made in the User screen while the user in question is using AMI, their snapshot will not be updated when they next log out. This is to prevent users from inadvertently overwriting changes made in the User gadget.

Take care when editing the User Snapshot. If this value is left in an invalid state, the user will not be able to log in to AMI. If this happens, the user can be recovered by emptying the snapshot field completely. This will allow the user to log back in, but any preferences the user has set will have been lost.

Menu Items

Add New User...

Selecting "Add New User..." launches the Add User dialog. This dialog requires a few basic details to create a new user. Upon successfully creating a new user the dialog will close and the new user will be displayed in the User screen.

This option allows you to disable the currently selected user. Disabled users can no longer log in to AMI or Agility Governance, and they are not displayed in the User screen.

Delete User

Completely remove the currently selected user.

Re-enable Users...

Selecting this option launches Re-enable Users dialog. This dialog displays a list of all disabled users. Using this dialog, multiple disabled users can be selected and re-enabled at once.
