Release Notes 21.3
Horizontal table expansion and scheduling data loads in OneStream
CXO Software Version 21.3 provides improvements in screen usage for tables in free format reports. Also included is the ability to schedule data loads in OneStream. Previously, the data loads had to be triggered manually.
Highlights of this release include:
- Horizontal table expansion (including freezing of row headers)
- OneStream scheduler
Horizontal table expansion
Pre-21.3, a table control in a free format report could be automatically expanded vertically, but not horizontally. This would lead to situations like the screenshot below. The data in the table aren't fully visible, despite there being space to the right side of the control. This could already be addressed by resizing the control via CXO Designer, but then the same issue would occur if a user would drill into a column.
As a solution, CXO version 21.3 introduces the horizontal table expansion option. This functionality works in the same way as vertical table expansion. By selecting a control setting in CXO Designer, a report builder can indicate whether a table in a free format report should horizontally expand. If this is selected a table will expand horizontally until all data are displayed. Adjacent controls might be repositioned as part of this expansion process. If the report becomes wider than the screen due to the horizontal table expansion, a horizontal scrollbar on the report level will be used to make all content accessible.
When upgrading to 21.3, tables in existing free format reports are by default unaffected by this feature; they have horizontal growth switched off.
The introduction of the horizontal report scrollbar can cause row headers to fall off screen. To prevent this from happening, CXO version 21.3 introduces the freezing of row headers. This functionality works the same as the freezing of column headers. Once the row headers would disappear, they 'stick' to the left side of the screen.
OneStream Scheduler
Customers who used OneStream as their source system encountered process challenges as data loads had to be manually triggered. As it could not be expected to do this in the middle of the night, users had to start their day triggering the data loads and then waiting for it to complete. To gain efficiency in this process, CXO Version 21.3 has implemented a feature which is also used in other adapter: data load scheduling. It is now possible to schedule data loads at any time of the day. For instance, by scheduling the data jobs at night, a user who would originally have to start the day running the data load can now immediately start working with refreshed data.
