In a table or a multi-column report, annotations can be added to allow commenting on a specific value within a report. There is no limit to the number of characters that can be added. Annotation icons appear to the left of the number being commented on, and the description can be seen as a tool tip when you place the cursor on the icon. Additionally, the annotation is also displayed below the table.
To add an annotation:

  1. Click the editor icon.

  2. Click the value to add annotation. An editor box appears at the bottom of the report.

  3. Add your annotation and click Save.

To edit an annotation:

  1. Click the editor icon.

  2. Click the value to edit the annotation.

  3. Edit the annotation and click Save.

If you wish to delete the annotation, click Delete.

Show annotations setting in the Other Panel determines which annotations (if any) are shown.

In the CXO Designer, choose from the following options:

Switching between Show annotations options

Switching between the options will never delete annotations. By reverting to the previous option, the previous annotations will be shown again.

Scenario:

Result: Actual, Taxes is not annotated, because the whole table is now showing annotations that have been shared among reports.

Result: Net Profit, Budget is not annotated, because the whole table is now showing annotations that are specific to this control. But note that Actual, Taxes is again annotated.
