Central vs. Initial and Hidden Dimensions

Each dimension can be initialized centrally or initially.

  • Centrally means that on opening the report takes over the previous report value for that specific dimension. Normally this is configured for dimensions like Entity, Year and Period.
  • Initially means that on opening the report When you open a report using central dimensions, it uses the dimensions from the last report you viewed to build the report you are looking at. When you open the report, if your previous report was using dimensions like entity, YTD and period, then the new report would have the same POV bar at the top. If you have just started the reporting session, the default member will be picked. Read more about the POV Default Member Initialization.
  • Initial means that upon opening the report, the dimension is set to an a specific initial value. This is normally done for all invisible dimensions not displayed on the report. For example: A report is called "YTD Sales Overview", the view View dimension for this report is initially set to YTD and the View dimension is hidden in the POV Bar.

This User has no full POV access: only Period and Year POV can be changed, all other POV dimensions are frozen in a report. If POV filter prevents access to the POV member, the POV will be frozen on the first accessible member. For more information about POV member initialization, please click here.
