Introduction

...

Storyboards are a powerful tool to share CXO

...

information within the

...

organization. Storyboards are a string of

...

report bookmarks put together to deliver a full story during a

...

Board or

...

Controller meeting. The

...

Storyboard guides a presenter through the presentation.

...

Storyboards remain interactive at all times. Within the presentation the presenter can switch to another point of view and still remain in control of the presentation.

CXO

...

has the ability to

...

Export a complete

...

Storyboard to

...

Microsoft PowerPoint, PDF or Microsoft Excel.

There are two types of

...

Storyboards – Standard

...

Storyboard and Scripted

...

Storyboard. Below

...

you will find information on Standard

...

Storyboards. Details on Scripted

...

Storyboards can be found in the Scripted Storyboard article.

Sharing and Ownership

A StoryBoard can only be maintained by the user who created it. The creator can share his StoryBoard with other users by sending a link through email. The recipient will only get a reference to the StoryBoard, the creator remains the owner. In order to become the owner of a StoryBoard that was sent to you, you need to copy the Storyboard. After copying the StoryBoard is no longer a reference, but a new instance that can be changed by the recipient.

Play Storyboard – Set Default POV Settings

Under CXO – Designer>Tools>Application Settings> Storyboards you can select if you want the Point of View Entity, and/or the Point of View Period to be played in storyboards by default.

GetImage (3).pngImage Added

An example: a report has been added to a storyboard with the entity ‘Europe’ selected. However, ‘Use POV Entity by default’ has been selected, and the POV is set to Headquarters. When playing the storyboard, you will now not see it played with ‘Europe’, but with ‘Headquarters’. Everything else in the storyboard POV will be the same as how it was in the report when it was added to the storyboard. This enables you to not have to re-add every report whenever a new period/entity is added to the metadata.

You can also set the other storyboard POV setting to play under Play>Set POV and Play:

Click Set POV and Play to pick the specific dimension members to play in the storyboard.

Info

This selection will override any selection made under the default selection chosen under CXO – Designer.

Navigation

You can navigate to reports by using the Storyboard's media player as shown below. For instance, to deliver a full story during a Board or Controller meeting, the Storyboard guides the presenter through the presentation with the media player.
