Setting the Period Frequency Setting is an obligatory mandatory step during the initial rollout roll-out of CXO -Cockpit on free models.
You need to define the Period dimension members to be used in cockpit and map them to the parent members of the Period hierarchy.

Example of SAP BPC
In SAP BPC the Time dimension often contains the Year and the Period dimension in one. To use this in CXO it is often split to a separate Year and Period dimension. To do so use the following instructions.
Open the source system manager and go to the dimension split
Open the mapping of the Time dimension to map the years an periods.
After saving the changes the mapped years and periods will be available in CXO.
