Introduction
SSAS can be used for different purposes, it can be used as a free OLAP source, or it can be used as an element of an Integration Adapter
In case of a free OLAP source the SSAS OLAP The Analysis Services Tabular OLAP connector creates a direct connection to SSASMicrosoft Azure Analysis Services. The following architecture picture shows the system components:
Connectivity
The connection to Azure SSAS is managed in the /wiki/spaces/CXO/pages/2806776143 specify CXO Source System Manager. Specify the following fields:

- Microsoft Azure Analysis Server: the name or IP address of the SSAS Analysis Services server
- Database: The name of the SSAS Azure database
- Cube: The name of the Azure SSAS cubemodel
- Username & Password: SSAS can only be accessed using windows authentication. For the CXO Design Studio the Windows account of the current logged on user will be used. The website will use the account as specified in the application pool. The services will use the service accountThe account which has access to the Analysis Services resource on the Azure Portal.

In order to successfully run CXO -Cockpit on an Azure SSAS application the following additional configuration is required.
- Dimension Mapping: all of the CXO-Core Dimensions need to be mapped
- Sometimes it is required to use Dimension Splits in order to get all required dimensions. Specify dimension splits first then map the dimensions.
- Set the Period Frequencies table
- Correct any Dimension Variable errors
